Cole Miller MMA Interview - A Guy Who Loves What He's Doing
By Robert Rousseau

January 8, 2008: People in all walks of life are out there going through the motions. Not so with 13-2 UFC fighter Cole Miller. He’s not that guy working behind a register hoping for the day to end; he’s not that white collar worker that continually pretends he’s busy when the boss comes around so as to avoid doing a job he hates; And Cole Miller certainly isn’t an MMA fighter that’s only it for the money.

Rather, he’s a fighter that loves going to war in a cage. In fact, he couldn’t imagine doing anything else. And lucky for Miller, he’ll get the chance to do just that on January 23, 2007 at UFC Fight Night 12 when he takes on Jeremy Stephens.

Wondering what he thinks about his opponent and more? Then read on to hear it straight from Miller himself.

Submit To MMA: How’s training been going?

Cole Miller: Training has been going good. I’m healthy for the first time in a long time.

Submit To MMA: Who have you been training with and where?

Cole Miller: No one specific. I’ve just been training with my friends and family here at American Top Team.

Submit To MMA: Why is American Top Team so well- respected? In other words, what do they do different?

Cole Miller: Everyone comes together to feed off of one another. There are no egos here. We’re all working towards the same goals and we help each other achieve those goals. We really are a family, we’re a team. That’s what makes us different.

Submit To MMA: What do you think of your opponent, Jeremy Stephens?

Cole Miller: He’s a very tough opponent. He seems like the kind of guy that really loves his job and likes to be in there beating someone up and getting beat up. He likes all the aspects of a fight. This is good for me because these are the guys I want to fight. I want to fight the warriors, the kind of people that love being in there as much as I do. It makes for exciting fights for the fans and hard battles for the fighters.

Submit To MMA: He’s KO’d 8 people in his day. How do you think your stand up matches up with his?

Cole Miller: I think I’m a more technical boxer and a rangier fighter. He seems like he would be the harder puncher but not alot of people have seen how good my standup is.

Submit To MMA: How do you think his ground skills match up against yours?

Cole Miller: He also seems to have a solid knowledge of the ground. Again, I feel like I’m more of the technician. But his heavy punching power- it may be problematic for me. (Then again) maybe not. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Submit To MMA: The guy you lost to on the show, Joe Lauzon, is one heckuva fighter. That said, it was a good fight between the two of you before that accidental elbow to the back of the head. What do you think of your decision to keep fighting now after some time has gone by?

Cole Miller: Stilll a smart idea. . . I mean if I quit I could’ve come off really bad as a guy who wanted out of the fight (and) who wasn’t a real fighter. I made the right choice and don’t regret a thing.

Submit To MMA: In what way did being a contestant on TUF help your career?

Cole Miller: I’m in the UFC doing exactly what I want to be doing, fighting fights and doing my best to win them.

Submit To MMA: Do you have a prediction for the fight?

Cole Miller: No, I never make predictions but I’ll say it will be all over the cage. So don’t blink.

Submit To MMA: Anything you’d like to say to fans?

Cole Miller: Thanks for the continuous support. It means a lot to know that people out there appreciate what I’m doing.
