Nokaut is reporting that Fedor Emelianenko has been offered a four fight contract from EliteXC that would span the course of 18 months. If Fedor were to sign with the promotion it would no doubt drive those that want him in the UFC crazy once again. That said, with the the deal that EliteXC recently inked with CBS. . .
Don't be surprised.
Further, despite the push for him to be a UFC fighter, Fedor in EliteXC could be just what the doctor ordered. Along with this, if he does decide to sign with Gary Shaw and friends, here are some of the possibilities we may have to look forward to.
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Antonio Silva
This is the most likely of all possibilities. Antonio Silva is a huge heavyweight with excellent skills and athleticism. If Fedor were to win this fight, then that would immediately introduce him to the American public in a big way. If not, it makes Antonio Silva a star.
Who wouldn't want to see this fight? What's more, EliteXC President of Live Events Gary Shaw has indicated that he wanted this fight to happen if Silva were victorious over Ricco Rodriguez.
Silva won that fight, people.
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia
Of course, we here at Submit To MMA are well aware that neither of these fighters have signed a deal with EliteXC. Then again, Tim Sylvia, a soon to be free agent, would probably like nothing more than to get a shot at Fedor, who is widely considered the greatest heavyweight MMA fighter in the world. Thus, if Fedor were to sign with EliteXC who's to say that Sylvia wouldn't follow suit?
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Randy Couture
Of course, we're pushing it here as well. No, Couture hasn't been inked by EliteXC. Then again, he's gone on record to say that he won't be taking Fedor on in the UFC. Further, we know that he wants to fight Fedor.
So you do the math!
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Kimbo Slice
Kimbo Slice is not ready for Fedor yet. Then again, he possesses a recognizable name and knockout power. In other words, people love talking about him. So if EliteXC really wanted to showcase Fedor to the American public, having him take on a guy like Kimbo Slice would serve to do just that.
Guess is that this is unlikely right off the bat, however. The organization is planning on having Slice headline their first CBS card. In other words, they want to bring him up slowly and foster his stardom. At this point, no matter how impressed you may be with Slice's MMA performances, you must admit that having him fight Fedor right now is not good for his career.
Here's to the possibilities!
