January 7, 2008: Kimbo Slice will take on Tank Abbott in the main event of the next EliteXC show on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center.
Just a short time ago a Cage Fury Fighting Championships event was supposed to be putting on this battle of brawlers. However, the fight never materialized.
Until now, that is.
Slice won his professional MMA debut at EliteXC: Renegade on Nov. 10 in dramatic and impressive fashion, forcing Bo Cantrell to tapout due to strikes after only 19 seconds. Simply put, Slice showed the world his power in a big way.
Abbott has lost seven of his last eight bouts since 1998 and holds only a 9-13 record. Still he has the kind of power that can end a fight in a moment’s notice. Further, his style and attitude seem to make this a perfect match up.
The internet brawler vs. a Pit Fighter.
The main card will air on Showtime at 10pm ET/PT.
